Weekly Update #9

Bleah, I am accomplishing nothing. I'm working on Oaksy's scarf, and that's been pretty much it. Jasper is doing well with leash training, though. He hardly needs any prompting now. Jack, on the other hand...

Confidence building is going nowhere.

I'm a rather discouraged Jan right about now, but it'll get better. I need to focus on goals I can get done and just do them, like my photography challenges. That will make me feel better.

Meanwhile, back to Oaksy's scarf.

Scarf Making

Do Unto Others
22. Handcraft 2+ items as Christmas gifts each year (1/6)

I had to partially frog Oaksy's Gryffindor scarf. I'd miscounted stitches and made it lopsided. It was just a little crooked. It was a LOT crooked. :-/

Oh well... shall continue working on it! Maybe I'll take some pictures to post later and show my "progress." It's a very simple pattern, so don't get too excited about it.

Weekly Update #8

I haven't accomplished much at all this last week. Well, it hasn't felt like I have, anyway. I figure it's time to sit down and plot some things to do this brand new week and see how I fare. Plans are usually a good thing.

Confidence Building
8. Be more open about being bisexual (lose this lingering shame I was taught growing up)

I'd thought about doing a series of posts on LJ, just talking about how I knew growing up, my feelings on being told such a thing was an abomination, etc. I'll keep it behind an LJ-cut, so it won't be mandatory reading for anyone. It'll just be there in case someone wants to know.

Honestly, just typing the above paragraph was hard for me. I have a feeling this idea will take a very long time to carry out, which I guess is the point. You can't make yourself comfortable with such a thing overnight. Time is the key.

Creativity
17. Complete the 100 Snapshots Challenge (0/100)
18. Complete 26 Things and post in my journal (0/26)

I've been thinking about getting these two done and out of the way (linkage above). The 100 Challenge will be fun because it's such a big list of thing to photograph! I copied the list and alphabetized it to make it easier, though.

Pets
68. Breed Zoe and Frank

Frank has recently began to "rut," which is normal for goats in the fall. It means Zoe has come into season for sure. He's urinating all over himself and being rather aggressive. He takes great pleasure in knocking me down by side-swiping me on a steep hill. *glares* This behavior can last between a few days, a few weeks, or up to two months.

Either way, the goal here is to get him to successfully knock up Zoe so we will have baby pygmy goats. Not much I can really do to help in this department, though. (Have you ever seen little baby pygmy goats? Look them up on YouTube. You don't even need sound to see how precious and little they are!)

Related to Stories
82. Complete at least one book in the Jade trilogy

Yesterday, I had an epiphany. Now to put this new idea to work... and completely toss out everything I'd already written for the first book. :-/

I guess that's plenty to think and work on this week, don't you? *nods* Now to get my ghetto booty in gear and get-r-do!

One Down, Six to Go!

Do Unto Others
22. Handcraft 2+ items as Christmas gifts each year (1/6)

I finished Nana's scarf last night! Yay! Pictures to come on its Ravelry page here in a little while.

Nothing like a heavy dose of stress with a night of insomnia to get a project done. ^_~ lol

ETA: Pictures are up!

Weekly Update #7

Pets
67. Leash-train Jack and Jasper

Jasper is taking to leash training far better than Jack is. He gets all excited like a puppy when you pep-talk him. I'm thinking of taking him for his first "walk" sometime this week. Then again, there's an awful lot of maple leaves in the yard right now...

Goats love maple leaves like I love rocky road ice cream.

New Yummy Food

Food and Health
40. Try a new recipe and/or food every month (2/143)

Four-cheese mashed potatoes rock, just so you know. I tried them first strictly by the directions (they were instant, I admit, but still new to me!), then I added additional milk to them to make them creamier. Very yummy!

I know, kind of bad both of my goal achievements were mashed potato related, but that's my first "new" this month. I have other recipes and things to try, too, but life's been pretty difficult lately. I wanted to make sure I got my goal in as quickly as I could before the month was up. But seriously, I could eat a whole pot of this stuff in a sitting if I thought it was good for me to do so. ^_~

Bleah... back to my drama-filled life.

Edited to Add: Today I ate Philly cheese steak Hamburger Helper topped with sour cream! That was definitely new and not related to the potato family. ^_~

Making Goat Progress

Pets
67. Leash-train Jack and Jasper

Larry saw me "walk" the goats earlier back to their pen. He thought it was funny how they walk like puppies on a line. Only thing is, going TO the pen is the easy part. They're filled up with food. Getting them OUT is still a hassle. They want to eat everything along the way. :-/

Next week, I plan on taking them on a longer walk than just to and from the pen and goat line. I want to walk them down the driveway a little ways. We'll see how it goes. I started this goal early for a reason. ^_~

Weekly Update #6

Food and Health
40. Try a new recipe and/or food every month (1/143)

During the Apple Festival, I ate some weird named food that said "taco in a bag" below it. I was hungry, the fajita place was closed, so I tried one. Basically, they opened a fun-sized bag of Doritos and dumped hamburger and nacho cheese on it. It was good, but I doubt it counts as a "new recipe and/or food." I was expecting something... different, I guess. Not nachos a la Doritos.

Oh well, the month is still new! We still need to go shopping and there's lots of time to try new things.

Being Confident

Confidence Building
8. Be more open about being bisexual (lose this lingering shame I was taught growing up)

Katy Perry's song is a great way to open the topic up, even if in a vague way. It's a small start, but a start nonetheless. :-) It rattled my nerves a bit, but it went well. Very brief, then it was over.

A Very Angry Goal

Cleaning and Organizing
3. Get film that’s laid around for years developed

Yeah, that was a huge waste of money. Seriously... it turned out one of those rolls wasn't even mine. It belonged to my ex, from the choir tour I didn't go on. The second roll was 95% of either him or some other person(s) I didn't want pictures of. The third roll was--as expected--of Jordan's wedding. I might keep one picture out of the entire batch.

And there wasn't a single picture of my friend that I was hoping to have pictures of. Oh well, such is life.

Well, now I've got that goal out of the way, but I feel like I've been robbed. I could have put that money towards something useful... like the yarn sale they were having at Wal-Mart. *rolls eyes* Seriously, Lion Brand wool was $3.50 a skein, and Carron Simply Soft was $1.50. But where did my money go? Towards pictures of my ex and his "friends."

Mostly, I'm just pissed I had to see his face again, and in far more abundance that I was prepared for. Oh well, now the trash people can look at him. It's where he belongs, anyway.

Now to contact Jordan and see if he wants these pictures.
